This is how my son made friends when he first started going to preschool. Barely verbal, the boy-to-boy conversation went something like this (rough translation from Serbian):
Little boy: Do you like Lightning McQueen?
Maksim: Yes! I like Lightning McQueen!
Little boy: You like trucks?
Maksim: I like trucks!
Little boy: You like Spiderman?
Maksim: I like Spiderman!
Little boy: Let’s play!
Aaaaannnd … Instant friendship. (For girls, it’s a bit more complicated. Understatement.)
You like couch-assisted handstands? I like couch-assisted handstands. Alright! Let’s do this thing!
So, today I will take a page from my little muffin, Maksim:
Do you like Ryan Gosling? … I like Ryan Gosling!
