Adopted Reality, A Memoir–Launch Week Updates
She is open, throws caution to the wind and tells her riveting tale in a way that holds the attention of the reader like a vice grip.
The portions of the book dedicated to the events of September 11th have never (to my knowledge) been dealt with the way Laura has in this memoir.
– Ionia Martin, book reviewer and writer at Readful Things Blog
So … that’s a pretty awesome description of Adopted Reality. Thanks to Ionia, and to all of those who’ve read and reviewed; I truly, truly appreciate it.
In other news … I am getting my (blogging) act together and have created a new page–Memoir, where you can read all the cool 2nd edition-related articles around the web, including …
- Reclaiming my Adoption Narrative – on how I explained adoption to my 5-year-old
- How to Stand in Your Truth – not that I’m able to do it 100% of the time
- Re-Launching a Memoir in the Digital Book Age – if you write memoir and you don’t know who Kathy Pooler is … go, go right now to her blog
- Click here to read more author interviews, reviews and other cool articles … More from the 2nd Edition Launch Week
That’s all for today, and so I will leave you with a super-dated, cringe-worthy, late ’70s photo of me (multi-tasking from age two, papers in one hand, cookie in another) … replete with crooked home-cut bangs:
* * * * *
Tomorrow I’ll be chatting with Juanima Hiatt about PTSD and psychological triggers … see you then!

Bravo to you, Laura on your ambitious and creative campaign! I am thrilled to feature you this week on my blog. Thank you for your link and for your kind words. I'm looking forward to some lively memoir conversation
Thanks, Kathy — Well, I always seem to have a lot to say. I love how the readers on your blog always comment–and yes, sometimes things do get 'lively' … looking forward to it, too!
Laura, I just went to amazon.com to order a hard copy…
Will it be released in hard copy? When? I want to hold this book!
Corie — You're totally right — I haven't prepared the paperback yet … it's on my list Sorry to disappoint
I often like to spend most of my time to read these types of books to have some quality time. There are many things that we are able to learn when we are having these types of updates.
